Job title:Sheepdog and mate

What's up dog?

I first met in Roo on Kangaroo Island as a pup when his owners asked me to microchip him. The mutual attraction was evident when he fell asleep in my arms. Not long after they asked if I could rehome him, which is something I do as a breeder and trainer of working dogs. I knew I had to give him a home with me. He fitted right into our team of dogs, but still stood out as very affectionate to me and a bit special. I had retired from firefighting post 2019/20 bushfires on Kangaroo Island, and diagnosed with PTSD was not travelling too well. I do not know how he knew it, but he knew I needed a whole lotta love and help, always by myside, he stuck to me like poo to a shoe.

This little red and tan kelpie with the piercing eyes has never put a foot wrong. With sheep he is such a natural talent he required no training, just instructions. Due to ill health I had to leave KI and try for a fresh start so we moved to a family sheep station near the Nullarbor in SA. I take it a bit easy these days but still have my dogs, work friends and neighbours sheep during shearing and busy times and Cracka Roo is my go to dog, always with me, keen for a cuddle or to push a mob of sheep, my workmate, my best friend, my hero, my Cracka Roo.
