Over the past year, Roxie has continued her mission of joy at The Alfred Hospital, where her visits provide comfort for patients, families and staff alike. Now 5.5 years old, Roxie has been sprinkling her special brand of cheer for 18 months, and her arrival is always met with smiles, waves and heartfelt gratitude. Whether its offering quiet companionship to someone in palliative care or lifting the spirits of long-term patients missing home, Roxie has an intuitive way of being exactly what people need in that moment. Staff often tell us her presence recharges them during tough shifts, and many patients have shared that shes the best medicine of all. Some interactions have felt nothing short of miraculous. Its a privilege to be part of her journey and witness the lasting imprint pawprint she leaves behind each fortnight.
