Monte The Therapy Dog
Breed: Golden Retriever
Barking from: Adelaide, SA
What's up dog?
Monte has spent the last 3 years bringing love, comfort and joy to the staff and patients in pallative care. Our very first visit will always be a special moment. We entered the hallway to the ward and Monte was pulling on his lead , he was on a mission. I was asked to let go of his lead and see where he goes. He proceeded all the way down the hallway to a room on the right. By the time I got there he had jumped onto the bed and was receiving cuddles from a lovely lady. Unbeknown to me she was end of life and only had limited time left on earth. We visited her for three weeks after our first visit. Monte knew which room she was in even when they had moved her room. Her last week on earth the hospital staff decided it was best that Monte didn't visit her. He searched the ward for her for many weeks after she passed. Monte is a very special boy who senses when people need him.
