The Role
The firm is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Solicitor to join its Civil Litigation team. Reporting to a Partner and working alongside two Special Counsels, an Associate, and another Solicitor, this role offers exposure to a range of litigation matters including insurance disputes, medical negligence / asbestos & dust diseases, and general commercial litigation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting legal research, preparing court documents, and drafting detailed legal advice.
- Representing clients at mediations, pre-trial conferences, and court appearances (including in-person appearances in QLD courts).
- Managing evidence, liaising with experts, and preparing matters for hearing.
- Engaging with clients directly and maintaining strong professional relationships.
- Participating in business development, profile-raising, and occasional article writing or CPD delivery.
- Collaborating with a collegiate and high-performing litigation team on complex matters.
The Candidate
The ideal candidate will bring:
- Between 1 to 5 years’ PAE in civil litigation (insurance litigation experience is highly desirable).
- Alternatively, a medical background (including medico-legal or health law) will also be favourably considered.
- A proactive, organised, and detail-oriented approach with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Confidence in appearing in court and managing files with appropriate supervision.
- An interest in learning, collaborating and thriving in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines.
- A genuine desire to build a long-term career within the litigation space.
Transcripts are not a pre-requisite for application.
