The Role
An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Associate to join the firm’s Dispute Resolution team in Sydney, working closely with an experienced partner on an exclusive, broad-ranging commercial disputes practice. This role offers exposure to complex litigation matters across diverse industries, with work spanning contractual disputes, regulatory matters, and high-value commercial claims.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing a broad range of complex commercial disputes across varied sectors;
- Leading files and contributing to strategic planning on significant matters;
- Working collaboratively with other senior lawyers and partners in a high-performing team;
- Supervising and mentoring junior team members;
- Engaging in business development activities to grow and strengthen client relationships;
- Contributing to the firm’s pro bono program (with up to 100 financially billable hours allocated).
To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have:
- 6-7 years’ PAE in commercial litigation or dispute resolution at a mid-to-top-tier firm;
- Strong academics, with at least a high credit average or equivalent;
- Demonstrated ability to lead files and advise clients on strategy and risk;
- Confidence in managing client relationships and engaging in business development;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with high attention to detail;
- A proactive, commercial mindset and the ability to think strategically;
- A collaborative approach with a genuine interest in mentoring and supporting junior lawyers.
