Job title:
What's up dog?
Louie is more than a therapy dog hes a grounding force for those navigating trauma, stress and overwhelm. In our breathwork studio, he instinctively senses when someone needs comfort, offering a soft head to pat or simply lying nearby to help people feel safe enough to exhale. His presence invites calm, connection and nervous system regulation in a way that no words can. As a certified therapy dog, Louie has also become a beacon of hope in our volunteer work with the Gold Coast Centre Against Sexual Violence. Many survivors feel anxious or guarded when seeking support, but when they meet Louie, walls come down.
He meets them with unconditional love and zero judgment, making it easier for people to show up exactly as they are. In every setting, Louie brings lightness without taking away from the seriousness of the space. He reminds people that healing can include moments of softness, joy and connection. Whether hes sitting patiently during a group session or wagging his tail as someone walks through the door, Louie helps people feel like they belong. That is his true superpower.Louie has become a beloved part of our local community. At the breathwork studio, hes known as the œco-facilitator and is often the reason people feel brave enough to attend their first session. Participants describe feeling calmer, safer, and more open simply by being in his presence. His gentle approach invites trust, especially for those who struggle to be around humans after experiencing trauma. At the Gold Coast Centre Against Sexual Violence, Louies impact has been profound. Survivors and staff alike feel his grounding presence. He helps reduce anxiety, builds connections, and is often the first point of contact that brings a smile after a tough day. In parks, cafàs and events around the Gold Coast, locals stop to say hello, recognising Louie from media features or studio visits. Hes not just a working dog, hes a loved member of our community. Louie shows us that healing is possible, one gentle paw at a time.
