What's up dog?
Iris, an internationally qualified Facility Dog through Guide Dogs Australia, has been enhancing the learning environment at Wirreanda Secondary School in Morphett Vale, SA, since 2020. She supports students' physical, social, and cognitive development by working closely with teachers and staff. Iris provides deep pressure therapy, calming walks, and exposure therapy, particularly benefiting students with complex backgrounds. Her work has led to improved engagement, emotional regulation, and social interaction. Recognized with the Site-Based Support Award in 2022, Iris is the first dog to receive this honor. In 2023, she worked with 349 students, with 92.5% reporting positive outcomes
