Special Counsel
Led by two specialist Partners, here is an opportunity for a high-calibre Special Counsel to join a thriving, high performing general liability / insurance practice within an established global firm.
This role offers exposure to complex, high-value liability matters and the chance to work closely with recognised leaders in the field. The practice is known for advising domestic and international insurers on a broad range of contentious matters, with a strong reputation in casualty and general insurance litigation.
The Opportunity
You will work across a sophisticated and varied caseload, spanning personal injury, public and product liability, and property related disputes. Matters range from routine claims through to large-scale, multi-party and catastrophic losses. The role provides genuine hands-on responsibility, including direct client contact and carriage of files, alongside close mentoring from experienced partners. You will be supported by a well-resourced team, enabling you to focus on delivering high-quality legal work in a fast-paced litigation environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a portfolio of defendant insurance matters from inception through to resolution
- Advising insurers and insureds on liability, quantum and strategic risk
- Drafting pleadings, submissions and coverage advice
- Engaging directly with clients, experts and counsel
- Contributing to the delivery of strategic, commercially focused outcomes
About You
- 8+ years’ PQE in liability, casualty or general insurance litigation
- Strong technical grounding in litigation with the ability to manage files with increasing autonomy
- Commercially aware, client-focused and proactive in approach
- A collaborative mindset and genuine interest in building a career in insurance law
