Senior WHS Specialist

The Role
An opportunity exists for an experienced Senior Work Health & Safety Specialist to step into a standalone 6-month temporary role within the People & Culture function.
Reporting directly to the Head of People & Culture, you will be the sole WHS specialist, responsible for leading the organisation’s WHS strategy across both internal and outsourced employees within contact centre environments.
Key Responsibilities
  • Review and ensure best Work Health & Safety framework for a complex workforce within the healthcare sector
  • Take ownership of WHS governance for outsourced workforce arrangements, working closely with external providers to ensure consistent standards, clear accountability, and effective risk management
  • Design and implement fit for purpose WHS frameworks, programs and reporting mechanisms
  • Drive a strong focus on psychosocial safety, ideally bringing experience from contact centre, mental health or emotionally demanding environments
  • Establish meaningful WHS reporting and data insights
  • Operate as the subject matter expert and trusted advisor, partnering with People & Culture leadership to shape the future state of WHS across the organisation.
Contract flexibility
  • Open to an experienced WHS consultant to lead framework design and implementation for initial 6 months, or
  • A WHS specialist ready to step into a long term or permanent leadership opportunity once foundations are in place.
About You
  • Proven experience in a senior or standalone WHS role
  • Background in workforce within Call Centres or healthcare with focus around mental health, or high-risk/emotionally demanding environments
  • Strong understanding of psychological safety and wellbeing frameworks
  • Experience managing WHS in complex or outsourced workforce models
  • Confident operating autonomously and influencing senior stakeholders
  • Strong ability to balance compliance, risk, and practical business outcomes.
