The Organisation
A large, well‑established not‑for‑profit organisation with a strong presence across South Australia is seeking an experienced finance professional to join its central finance function. The organisation operates within a values‑driven, community‑focused environment, supporting a wide network of local entities and stakeholders. Financial governance, accountability and service excellence are core to how the organisation operates, and the finance team plays a critical role in ensuring accurate reporting, compliance and strong internal controls across the broader network.
The Role
Reporting to the Team Leader, Parish Accounting, this senior role provides oversight, review and support across multiple entities within a structured accounting environment. You will be responsible for ensuring financial transactions are accurately processed, authorised, reconciled and reported, while supporting a small team and acting as a senior point of reference for finance‑related queries. This role is hands‑on and well suited to someone who enjoys accuracy, structure, and working in a compliance‑focused setting.
Key Responsibilities
  • Review, approve and post accounts payable transactions and oversee weekly payment runs
  • Provide guidance and support to finance officers to ensure consistent, compliant processing
  • Review month‑end financial reports, including income & expenditure and balance sheets
  • Assist with budgets, journals, accruals and reconciliations
  • Support annual audits and quarterly reporting requirements (including BAS)
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to resolve finance queries
  • Contribute to process improvement and stronger financial controls
About You
You are a dependable and detail‑focused finance professional who enjoys senior‑level responsibility without people management. You will bring: Solid experience in back‑office accounting roles|||Strong knowledge of accounting standards and taxation obligations|||Hands‑on experience with TechnologyOne (essential)|||Good Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems|||Experience reviewing others’ work and providing guidance|||A professional, calm communication style and a service‑oriented mindset. Experience in not‑for‑profit, education, government, or community‑based organisations will be well regarded.
