About the role
An exciting opportunity is available for a Senior Resources & Energy Lawyer to join the Resources & Energy team of a well-established national law firm in Perth or Brisbane on a permanent, full-time basis.
Suited to a lawyer with 5+ years’ PAE, the role offers exposure to a diverse range of high-quality matters across mining, oil and gas, renewable energy and native title.
Key responsibilities
- Advising clients on a broad range of resources and energy matters, including mining, oil and gas, renewable energy and native title
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements and project documentation
- Providing practical legal advice on commercial, regulatory and operational matters within the resources and energy sectors
- Assisting clients with project development, transactions and associated legal requirements
- Leading discrete components of projects and managing matters to deliver high-quality client outcomes
- Conducting legal research and advising on relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders
- Working collaboratively with partners and other team members across a variety of matters
- Mentoring and supporting junior lawyers within the team
About you
- At least 5 years’ post-admission experience
- Experience in one or more of mining, oil and gas, renewable energy or native title
- Experience working within an Australian or international law firm
- Strong drafting, negotiation and analytical skills
- Ability to manage matters independently and lead components of complex projects
- Strong commercial awareness and the ability to provide practical, client-focused advice
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- A genuine interest in broadening your expertise across different areas of resources and energy law
- A collaborative attitude and willingness to mentor and support junior lawyers
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines
