About the role
As Principal Lawyer, you will leverage your extensive experience in legal matters to act as a trusted advisor on all legal issues. You will provide executive legal advice while ensuring compliance with Victorian Government legal requirements. This role involves offering front-end transaction legal support, aligning strategic objectives with policies and processes across governance, compliance, contract development, and case management.
Key responsibilities
- Provide expert legal advice across a broad range of commercial matters.
- Draft and negotiate various commercial documents, including contracts and agreements.
- Ensure compliance with governance and legislative requirements.
- Implement legal policies and processes effectively.
- Conduct research and analysis of current and future legal domains.
- Liaise with executive leaders, managing sensitive information with discretion.
Skills & experience
- Proven experience in providing legal advice in a government or statutory authority context.
- Strong capability in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and agreements.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate Victorian Government procurement processes and compliance requirements.
