About the role
This role is essential for managing the end-to-end payroll process for approximately 170 employees across multiple states. You will be responsible for payroll calculations, compliance, and reporting, ensuring that all payroll operations run smoothly during a critical backfill period.
Key responsibilities
  • Manage end-to-end weekly payroll for ~170 employees across 4 states
  • Process payroll across 2 legal entities
  • Review and validate timesheets
  • Perform payroll calculations and processing
  • Handle leave management and accruals
  • Generate payroll reports and reconciliations
  • Ensure compliance with superannuation and statutory requirements
  • Prepare payroll journals and accounts payable entries
  • Interpret Enterprise Agreements and Modern Awards
  • Address payroll queries from staff and managers
  • Maintain accurate and confidential payroll records
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance teams
  • Execute month-end processes including payroll tax, superannuation, and GL reconciliations
Skills & experience
  • Proven experience in high-volume payroll processing in Australia
  • Strong capability in standalone payroll environments
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex payroll compliance in award-heavy settings
  • Proficient in Excel and payroll software, preferably Employment Hero / KeyPay
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Agreements, Modern Awards, and National Employment Standards
  • Experience in payroll lodgements and month-end processes
