The opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Officer for a full-time, 9-week temporary assignment, commencing 1 June 2026. This role will begin with a one-week handover, followed by 8 weeks of leave coverage, with the incumbent returning on 4 August.
About the Role
In this position, you will support the delivery of payroll for a headcount of approximately 1,900 employees, processed on a fortnightly cycle. The firm uses ADP Payforce, and while the system facilitates payment processing, the payroll team manages the end-to-end preparation, including timesheets and offboarding processes.
You’ll be joining a supportive team environment - you will not be working in isolation, with another Payroll team member and People & Development support available throughout.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and support fortnightly payroll for approximately 1,900 employees
- Manage timesheet collection, validation, and payroll preparation
- Assist with offboarding payroll activities and adjustments
- Maintain accurate payroll records in ADP Payforce
- Respond to payroll queries from employees and stakeholders
- Support compliance with applicable awards, including elements of the Legal Services Award
About You
- Proven experience in a high-volume payroll environment
- Familiarity with ADP Payforce is highly regarded
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
- Understanding of award interpretation (legal services exposure beneficial but not essential)
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach
