Legal Administration Officer
• 4 Month Contract • Ipswich Location • Full Time • $50–$53 per hour + Super • 8:30am – 5:00pm
About the Organisation
This role sits within a large, established local government organisation supporting a fast growing Queensland community. The Legal Services team delivers governance, compliance, prosecution and litigation support across the organisation and works closely with internal stakeholders, courts and external legal providers. The environment is professional, deadline driven and confidential, requiring a high level of organisation, discretion and maturity.
About the Role
This position is a hands on contract role designed for someone who can step in and hit the ground running. Reporting to the Legal Services Manager, you will provide end to end administrative support across legal operations, financial processes and court related matters.
  • Calendar and diary management for Solicitors
  • Open and close legal matters efficiently
  • Maintaining and archiving electronic and hard copy legal records
  • Assisting with the preparation of legal briefs, reports and correspondence
  • Assisting with court filings, JP bookings, lodgements
  • Create purchase orders and manage invoicing
  • Manage the legal billing processes
  • Coordinating internal and external training (room bookings, catering, RSVPs, materials, set up/pack down)
  • Responding to internal and external enquiries and undertaking research as directed
About You
You are an experienced administrator who understands legal processes, confidentiality and stakeholder management. You are self sufficient, organised, prioritise effectively, and take ownership of your workload. You will demonstrate:
  • Proven administration experience in a professional office environment (legal, compliance or government preferred)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organisation, time management and attention to detail
  • Ability to work autonomously under limited direction
  • Confidence managing competing priorities and deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism with internal and external stakeholders
  • High levels of discretion when handling confidential information
  • Have experience with court or compliance processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and corporate systems
  • Certificate III in Legal Services is highly desirable
This is a short term contract offering a competitive hourly rate of $50–$53 per hour + super based on experience, and ideal for an experienced legal or administration professional ready to make an immediate impact.
