The Role
  • Canberra based roles within a well established dispute resolution team
  • Acting on complex government focused litigation and disputes
  • Exposure to class actions and large scale civil claims
  • Advising on regulatory litigation and enforcement matters
  • Running complex commercial disputes including construction, infrastructure, IT and major projects
  • Involvement in negotiations, mediations and arbitrations
  • Acting on merits review and judicial review matters
  • Advising on investigations, royal commissions and parliamentary inquiries
  • Working autonomously while contributing to a cohesive and collaborative team
  • Senior candidates will have the opportunity to supervise, mentor and develop junior lawyers
  • Part time applications considered
The Candidate
  • Lawyer with 1+ years PAE (up to Special Counsel level)
  • Background in dispute resolution and litigation
  • Experience in private practice, a government legal service or a Crown Solicitor environment highly regarded
  • Strong commitment to building a long term career in disputes
  • Ability to work autonomously on complex matters
  • Proven mentoring and leadership capability for senior candidates
  • Strong commercial awareness and client focus
  • Confident communicator with the ability to build trusted client relationships
  • Interest in complex legal and regulatory challenges facing government clients
  • Hold or be eligible to obtain an Australian Government security clearance
