Business Development Manager - Technical Sales
$120,000–$130,000 + super + car allowance + annual performance bonus
Office-based role north of the river in Perth, with customer visits across WA
Water industry experience beneficial but not essential – product training provided
About the opportunity
Our client provides technical products and solutions for water management across mining, agriculture, irrigation and municipal markets.
They are seeking a technically minded sales professional to develop new business and manage existing customer relationships across Western Australia. With mining identified as a key growth area, this is an opportunity to build relationships, identify new opportunities and take ownership of territory growth.
The role
Working closely with the hiring manager and technical teams, you will:
- Generate new business through market research, cold calling and face-to-face meetings
- Build relationships with mining customers, subcontractors, water utilities and agricultural businesses
- Manage and grow an established customer portfolio
- Understand customer requirements and recommend suitable technical solutions
- Present products including flow meters, remote telemetry and water control systems
- Prepare detailed proposals, quotations and tender submissions
- Maintain accurate CRM records, sales forecasts and account plans
- Work with engineering and operations to support the delivery of customer solutions
This is an office-based role north of the river in Perth, with metropolitan and regional WA travel required. Occasional weekend work may also be required.
About you
You will bring:
- Demonstrated success in business development and generating new sales
- Confidence cold calling, approaching prospective customers and presenting solutions
- Strong technical aptitude and the ability to understand how products and systems work
- The ability to interpret technical documentation and prepare clear, detailed proposals
- Strong relationship management, organisation and follow-through
- A proactive, resilient approach and the ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Experience using a CRM to manage opportunities and customer activity
Water industry experience is beneficial but not essential. Candidates with transferable technical sales skills are encouraged to apply, and product training will be provided.
Experience in mining, irrigation, electrical products, automation or related technical sales would also be valuable, particularly an understanding of electrical systems, communications or telemetry.
