The Opportunity
Join a well-established Australian manufacturing and distribution business with a strong reputation for quality, innovation, and customer service. Due to continued growth, they are seeking a motivated Assistant Accountant to join their finance team based in Turrella, 5 days office-based.
Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, this is a hands-on role offering broad exposure across financial accounting, management reporting, inventory accounting, and month-end processes. It would suit an Assistant Accountant who enjoys working across the full finance function and is looking to further develop their commercial accounting skills.
- As the Assistant Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting the finance team and ensuring accurate financial reporting across the business. Your responsibilities will include: End-to-end Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable management
- Assisting with month-end close, including balance sheet reconciliations and P&L analysis
- Inventory accounting, stock reconciliations, costing maintenance and inventory reporting
- Weekly and monthly cash flow forecasting
- Bank reconciliations and general ledger maintenance
- Preparation of BAS, GST and other statutory lodgements
- Managing accounting activities for a related entity, including tax payments and compliance requirements
- Supporting annual audit processes and external stakeholder requests
- Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting continuous process improvements
- Assisting management with financial analysis and reporting requirements
About You
To be successful in this position, you will bring:
- Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar accounting position
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reconciliations
- Experience working across AP, AR and month-end processes
- Exposure to inventory accounting or manufacturing environments will be highly regarded
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships across the business
- A proactive and self-motivated approach with a willingness to learn
