The Role
This is a hands-on finance role supporting the day-to-day financial operations of our real estate business. The position is well suited to an experienced bookkeeper or finance professional who enjoys accuracy, compliance, and variety, and who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment when required.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Finance Assistant will be responsible for the day‑to‑day financial operations of the business including the following duties and responsibilities:
  • Administer and manage real estate sales trust accounts
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure trust account compliance
  • Follow company procedures to meet accounting and legislative requirements
  • Maintain up-to-date financial records, including:
  • Accounts payable & receivable
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Process and record financial transactions, including journal entries
  • Prepare and process fortnightly payroll for salaried staff and commission-based agents in accordance with the Real Estate Industry Award 2020
  • Assist in maintaining agents’ debit/credit ledgers
  • Assist with the preparation of BAS
Skills & Experience
  • This role will suit a finance professional who can demonstrate the following skills and experience:
  • Degree in Accounting or Certificate in Bookkeeping
  • Proven experience using Xero with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly organised with the ability to multitask
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset
  • Positive attitude and ability to work collaboratively within a team
  • Well presented and professional
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment on occasion
  • Experience working in the real estate industry
  • Knowledge of real estate CRM software Agentbox
  • Experience with Employment Hero or similar HR/payroll platforms
  • Familiarity with the Real Estate Industry Award 2020
