When a Performance Management Process Becomes a Psychosocial Hazard

Wednesday, 25 March 2026, 8.00AM-9.45AM, Brisbane CBD

New event

📅 Date: Wednesday, 25 March 2026
⏰ Time: 8.00AM-9.45AM (7.45AM arrival)
📍 Venue: Brisbane Club, Suite 3/241 Adelaide Street, Brisbane QLD 4000

Join Leanne Lazarus and Ben Wheeler from people2people Brisbane for our first HR forum in 2026, where we, alongside Jonathan Mamaril from South Geldard Lawyers, will be focusing on a growing challenge in modern workplaces: when a performance management process becomes a psychosocial hazard.

Performance frameworks are designed to empower employees and support development and improvement. But when misapplied, poorly communicated or used without transparency and fairness, they can unintentionally create stress, uncertainty, and harm.

In this session, we will unpack:

• How performance processes can contribute to psychosocial risks
• Early warning signs that a system has become unsafe
• The organisational behaviours that can amplify or reduce these risks
• Practical steps leaders and HR teams can take to ensure performance conversations remain constructive and psychologically safe
• Risks associated with not implementing practical steps and who carries the cost

This interactive session will assist in fostering healthy, accountable and supportive workplace cultures.
