Hiring in a talent short market

Hiring in a talent short market
Mark Smith: We are now joined by Denita. Thanks for joining us again, Denita.

Denita: Great to see you again, Mark. Thanks for having me.

Mark Smith: Now, you've written a blog a little while ago, maybe a couple of months ago, on hiring talent in a candidate short market like it is now. And you'd like to share some of those insights with us today.

Denita: Yeah, thanks, Mark. It does seem like a very relevant topic right now. At a time like this, it is just very helpful to bear in mind just how in demand top talent really is at the moment. Candidates are obviously hot property at the moment, so my top recommendation would be to keep your hiring processes uptight and efficient.

Mark Smith: Definitely, and I completely agree with you. I think it's really important. If you're an employer and you're looking to hire now, there is an element of pitching your company and working for you and your team right now. Isn't it? I mean, I often used to ask when I was taking a job brief of clients, "Why did you join the company?" So, what was it that attracted you to the company? And to be able to articulate that, I think right now in a candidate short market, I think it's really important.

Denita: Definitely. I completely agree with you, and I think that's what we hear a lot when we have conversations with candidates after interviews. What was it that had them really interested in one specific opportunity? And honestly, I think that if, in the hiring process, the candidate is being sold as well, it really makes a big difference in ensuring that the right candidate is lined up to the right role.

Mark Smith: Thanks, Denita, for that. And thanks for joining us again. Hopefully, we'll see you soon.
