MEET MACCA

Top Dog With a Job Winner

Yorshire Terrier      Melbourne      St Vincent's Hospital

The Neurosurgery team at St Vincent’s cares for some of the most critically ill brain and spinal patients along-side a pint-sized colleague. Despite an obvious difference in size and appearance, their furry friend Macca has been outstanding.

‘The true magic of Macca’s contribution to the Neurosurgery team is visible at the bedside. Effortless connection is Macca’s trademark. He has been instrumental with our stroke and brain tumour patients, with the team observing one of our patients moving a hemiplegic arm for the first time to pat Macca. I have witnessed patients in quiet solitude, light up at the sound of Macca’s name, the opportunity for a cuddle, a pat or chat. Macca leaves our patients and staff fulfilled, buoyant and bright.’
