Communications Manager

Salary: $90 - $110 per hour
Currently people2people have an AMAZING opportunity to be involved with the developing of policy and strategy documents for a NSW State Government department based in Western Sydney. Within this role you will be required to design material while maintaining consistency, completeness and technical accuracy of the documents through consultant with subject matter experts.

Key accountabilities:
  • Develop strategies and materials to inform a diverse range of stakeholders of infrastructure-related programs and policy
  • Manage and coordinate the implementation, delivery and continual improvement of communications strategies and related initiatives
  • Prepare written material for a range of audiences and mediums, including eDMs, web and social media content, and speaking points/speeches
  • Prepare factually correct responses and statements to be provided to media on behalf of the branch
  • Provide media and public relations advice to project teams providing guidance on how to interact with the media and manage enquiries
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to improve communication strategies and optimize outcomes
Selection criteria:
  • Relevant tertiary-level qualifications
  • Must have proven experience developing policy and strategy documents in consultation with government stakeholders, up to department executive level.
  • Ability to gain knowledge of existing products and processes, elicit information from subject matter experts, and present that information in a clear format.
  • Experience developing and implementing communication and communications strategies & related initiatives in a complex, dynamic, multifaceted environment
  • Experience working on infrastructure project communications and media relations
  • Contentious media issues management experience
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to translate complex information to various audiences
  • Ability to quickly understand complex details and translate information to stakeholders
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to gain stakeholder support
  • Willingness to travel to outer suburban and regional locations, and work outside of core business hours if required
