Manager City Design and Place Planning

Location: Wellington
Job Type: Permanent
Reference: JO-1910-186304
Salary: NZD200000 - NZD220000.00 per annum
Capturing the needs, hopes and dreams of the community for how they want to live work and play requires a special kind of leader. But for you, this is just the beginning. A visionary and strategic designer, you'll then take this kaleidoscope of information and bring it to life in plans that will transform public spaces in Wellington, relishing the opportunity to make your mark in a complex, fast-moving and possible 'bigger' city.

We're looking for a multi-faceted leader. Someone who can co-create an innovative future for our capital at a pivotal moment in its history. You'll harness and nurture the skills, passion and potential of your team, inspiring them to develop innovative plans and policies that respond to the challenges the city is facing -- from a growing population to climate change and seismic considerations. In doing so, you'll enhance the culture and performance of your team, and more importantly, improve the quality of life in Wellington and position it to move confidently into the future.

Your ability to quickly build trust as an advisor and collaborator will make you a standout for this role. You'll use your design-led approach and outstanding relationship building skills to provide design and planning advice, across the organisation and externally, working inclusively with other teams, organisations and communities to deliver an innovative direction for Wellington.

Flexible and adaptive to change, your strong urban design background and knowledge of district and transport planning, including application of the Local Govt Act 2020, will be backed by a proven record of achievement in collaboration, engagement and driving holistic outcomes. An experienced senior manager, you'll showcase examples of delivering on strategy in a leadership team and your ability to develop a high performing team in a medium to large organisation.

This role offers a highly attractive salary package, including flexible work options and the scope to stretch yourself in a supportive, passionate and future-focused team.
