Work Experience by Catherine

I came to people2people for work experience not really knowing what to expect. I wanted to gain experience in an office environment and knowing that this was a recruitment agency, I was excited to see how that process worked. When I first arrived I was greeted by Lisa and Janet and was given a tour of the office. This exposed me to a busy, fast paced atmosphere which was quite overwhelming at first but after a while I got used to it and quite enjoyed it. Everyone greeted me with smiles and I felt welcomed to the people2people Sydney office.

On my first day, I worked at the front desk and learned the day by day running of the business. I learned how the candidate interview process works and the testing they are required to do. When candidates come in they present ID. They have their own interview in a private room and the interviewers would ask a series of prepared questions. For the rest of the week, I worked in the main section of the office on the computer doing many various tasks such as filing, scanning, merging and updating accounts.

From this work experience, my most enjoyable moments were getting to meet new people and being able to surround myself in an environment that I was not used to, which took me out of my comfort zone. I loved being able to see what kind of things I will need to do to get a job and how to write my very own resume. I believe this experience has really prepared me for my own future in the workplace and has given me a few more options for myself as to what career I would be interested in.

Thank you to people2people for giving me this wonderful work experience opportunity and making it a great week.
