Meet people2people: Claire Jordan

John Doe • June 29, 2015

In today's edition of our Meet people2people series, we sat down with one of the consultants in our Brisbane team, Claire Jordan. Specialising in the business support and accounts clerical markets, Claire joined the recruitment industry in 2001. She spent the first two and a half years with the healthcare sector, but the bulk of her career was in the environmental, health & safety sector in the UK. Claire's longevity in the recruitment industry in both the UK and Australian markets has enabled her to quickly recognise and interpret the needs of her clients and candidates to provide solutions fast.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

I am based in the Brisbane office, and I am affectionately known as Mrs Mangle ! I like to learn everything I can about the company/people/culture and also about my candidates and what drives them. I love the thrill of making the offer of a new role and hearing the candidate's excitement, knowing that I have actually made a difference in someone's life.

What’s one piece of advice you would give to employers looking for staff?

To find the right cultural fit, skills can be taught. Most of all, employers should under recruit, giving the new employee an opportunity to learn new skills and develop into the role, keeping them excited and interested and, most importantly, engaged.

What are the main qualities you look for in a resume?

No spelling mistakes!!! The number of candidates who write that they have, for example, 'high attentions to details' (sic) is staggering.

What is your most valuable interview tip?

Dress to impress, be yourself and, most importantly, remember to be polite and respectful to the receptionist.

Coffee or tea?

You may expect me to say tea as I'm English, however I am have to say it's coffee, unless, of course, it's a good, strong builders' brew!

What’s your favourite spot in Brisbane?

Redcliffe – it has a great dog beach!
