Making your office greener

Kirsty Henegan • June 15, 2022

In 2022, it has become a high priority for many companies to ensure they are an environmentally friendly and sustainable workplace. Being able to create an eco-friendly office, along with an invested and dedicated team of staff, can have many benefits to improving a company’s overall workplace culture. Having your employees being invested and embracing a environmentally friendly and sustainable work culture can help lead to a significant boost in staff morale and productivity.

Many businesses claim to be environmentally friendly and have introduced more sustainable initiatives throughout their organisation over the last few years. But how green is your company? Here are three tips to help make your office more sustainable.

Go paperless
The greenest paper is no paper at all. Try and keep things as digital as possible. Going paperless includes printing less and asking vendors to offer e-statements and invoices instead of paper statements.

It can be as easy as keeping digital files on your computers and mobile devices. Get in the habit of reviewing digital documents on screen rather than printing them out.

Encourage green commuting
Companies can incentivize employees to lower commuting emissions through walking, biking, carpooling together, or taking public transits to the office. Companies can also offer work-from-home flexibility to help reduce your employees carbon footprint.

Desk plants
Having a desk plant can improve indoor air quality and bring some nature into the office environment. Doing this can encourage your co-workers to do the same.

Having more plants around in the office can encourage people in your workplace to be more environmentally conscious and also create a cleaner, happier space to work in.
