In March 2020, the Australian Government introduced the JobKeeper payment program. This wages subsidy is to support eligible employers and employees during the economic upheaval created by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Here are a few answers to FAQ’s asked about how people2people is managing JobKeeper as a recruitment agency with on hired temporary staff.

Are you a people2people casual worker (temp)?

Is people2people registering for the JobKeeper scheme? Yes, people2people has already registered and meets the criteria set for employers.

How do I know if I’m eligible? To be eligible for the Job Keeper payment, you need to satisfy a set of criteria.

  • You must have been regularly and systematically employed as a casual employee (temp) for a minimum of 12 months.

  • Be an Australian citizen, Permanent Resident of Australia or a New Zealand Citizen (444 visa).

  • You must have been employed as a casual employee for 12 months as at 1 March 2020.

  • You aren’t receiving any other form of government payment ( ie Job Seeker).

  • You can only receive one JobKeeper payment from one employer

I am eligible, what next? You will be asked to complete a JobKeeper nomination form by your people2people consultant

How much is the Job Keeper payment? The full Job Keeper payment is $1,500 per fortnight less tax.

Do I get the JobKeeper payment? If you have been stood down from your assignment/employment with people2people, then yes, you will directly receive the payment. If you are still working, the payment is paid to people2people. people2people will then apply this payment as financial assistance to your on-hire employer, to assist you to keep working with them.

Do you have people2people casual employees (temps) working in your business?

Does my business have to register for the JobKeeper scheme? Not for people2people employed casuals (temps). As these workers are people2people employees and have been on-hired to your business, people2people is responsible for applying for the JobKeeper wages subsidy, for those eligible, on their behalf. people2people has registered as a JobKeeper employer.

Why have the temps been asked to complete a form? Only those casual employees who meet the criteria for JobKeeper, will be contacted by their recruitment consultant. All eligible employees are required to sign a JobKeeper notification form and you as the onhire employer, will also be notified who on your team, is eligible.

How does this affect me and my business? For those casual employees who have been stood down, people2poeple will pay the JobKeeper payment to them directly. For those casual employees still working in your business, Job Keeper payment will be paid to people2people, as their employer. Should people2people be successful in receiving the payments from the Australian Government,  it is our intention to pass this on in full to you via a credit note, to be applied against people2people’s invoices.

people2people is committed to partnering with our clients and customers, to support and maintain the employment of our on hired temporary staff for as long as possible, via the assistance granted through the JobKeeper payments.
