What's the most rewarding part of your job?
After nearly nine years in recruitment, I still get a genuine thrill when I find the right candidate for the right job. Knowing I have played a role in helping someone take the next step in their career is immensely rewarding. Similarly, finding someone who I know is going to make a real impact in a business and seeing how they add value is really rewarding.
What's your most valuable interview tip for job seekers?
Preparation, preparation, preparation! Make sure you are well researched and have taken the time to really think about how your background and experience aligns with the role on offer. Hiring managers want to know that you are engaged in the role and have thought carefully about what you can bring to the table. Be prepared to explain why you are the right person for the job, and ask lots of questions!
What’s one piece of advice you would give to employers looking for staff?
Be as flexible as possible about skill set, but stand firm in ensuring you get the right attitude and culture fit for your business. You can teach someone skills, but finding someone with the right attitude, values and work ethic is invaluable!
What do you think makes people2people different?
We take the time to develop our staff and understand that building lasting relationships takes time. Of course we have expectations about sales activity and targets, but we don't have a culture that pushes people to 'win at all costs'. Integrity really is at the core of our business strategy.
What's your favourite spot in Sydney?
It's not quite in Sydney, but when I can, I love going to the Blue Mountains. My family are there, and, as soon as I arrive, the fresh air and open space make me feel instantly refreshed!
