In today's installment of our Meet people2people series, we talk to Shannon Flynn, Consultant, Specialist Permanent Recruitment Services. Shannon graduated from Providence College in the U.S., majoring in Finance. She commenced her recruitment career with a boutique recruiter in New York City, servicing the financial services sector and identifying talent ranging from reception through to C- level executives for investment banks, asset managers, hedge funds, and broker dealers. Upon moving to Sydney in 2011, Shannon joined people2people in the specialist permanent team. Currently, Shannon focuses on providing recruitment solutions for administration, customer service, sales, marketing, and human resources positions. How did you start working in recruitment?
Completely by chance! I went to a recruitment agency to assist me in finding a new role, and they offered for me to join their team as a recruiter.
What’s your most valuable interview tip?
Provide as much detail as possible. Do not rely on the fact that the hiring manager has your CV. You want to make sure you give as much information as possible about your roles and responsibilities.
What are the main qualities you look for in a resume?
Reasons for leaving previous roles, correct spelling and grammar, and industry experience.
What do you think makes people2people different?
The fact the majority of our consultants have been with people2people over three years. When you engage with a consultant at p2p, you can depend on continuing the relationship through that same individual.
Coffee or tea?
Definitely coffee – I could not get through a day without it!
What’s your favourite spot in Sydney?
The walk between Coogee and Bondi. I love the beach, and that coastal walk is beautiful!
