people2people's staff, clients, talent, and friends got swept up in the 2014 FIFA World Cup this June and July as we held our first World Cup Tipping Competition. 138 soccer fans followed the action in Brazil and made their predictions from game to game.
Our third prize, a Rebel Sport gift card, went to Julita Dela Cruz (pictured with people2people's Bianca Luck). Julita is an extremely lucky candidate, as this is the third time she has won one of our competitions, following victory in our Oscars Tipping Competition and a weekly footy tipping win. Her strategy has always been to research online and educate herself before submitting her tips. Well done to a very deserving winner. The competition for first place was fierce, with our first and second place competitors in a dead tie until the consolation match between Brazil and the Netherlands. people2people consultant Liam Hassell incorrectly predicted a Brazilian triumph, paving the way for Upul Mendis to take home the grand prize.
Upul loves his footy – rugby union. So how did he manage to win both people2people's and his own company's competition? We have to assume that having knowledge of the game is greatly overrated. Sorry Upul, only joking. Your tastes in football are clearly eclectic. Well done. We hope you enjoy your prize of an official Spain World Cup jersey – wear it with pride, despite Spain's disappointing performance this year. Congratulations to all of our winners!
