To celebrate the 86th Academy Awards, people2people launched its inaugural Oscars Predictions Competition. With a prize of Gold Class cinema tickets, participants shared their predictions in eight categories, Best Picture, the four acting categories, and three other categories that featured Australian nominees. Five Australians received Academy Award nods this year. Aussie darling Cate Blanchett took home the gold for her leading role in Blue Jasmine, and Catherine Martin became the most awarded Australian in Oscar history, winning Best Costume Design and Best Production Design (alongside fellow Australian, Beverly Dunn), both for The Great Gatsby. Costume designer Michael Wilkinson (American Hustle) and visual effects editor David Clayton (The Hobbit) were also nominated. Over 350 Oscar fans entered people2people's competition, with eleven movie buffs correctly predicting all eight of the featured categories. Here are a few of our winners:
Jake was pretty impressed with himself that he picked all eight winners for the Oscars tipping. He is looking forward to his first Gold Class movie experience!
Jennifer is a keen cyclist and runner and is now a keen Oscars tipper. Jennifer was very surprised to win, but, as an actuary, she is an expert at doing the numbers.]
Lenore watched the Oscars on Monday afternoon and thought to herself she may have picked a few of the winners... turns out she was top of the class! Congratulations, Lenore, and enjoy the Gold Class experience with your hubby!
Scott is an avid movie goer, so it comes as no surprise he joined in the Oscars tipping. He has already put his name down for 2015!
Simon, seen here with people2people consultant Belinda Magritzer, says, 'I am not usually a fan of the Oscars, but I had seen two of the movies that were nominated so I was able to make a semi-educated guess and got lucky on a couple of the categories.
Pictured with people2people consultant Bianca Luck, all eight of Julita's predictions were correct, and she was delighted to have won a pair of Gold Class cinema tickets. Her strategy was to research each category on the internet, which surely did pay off. Well done, Julita.
Rhonda did no research before making her predictions and was shocked to find she was a lucky winner. The tickets are a perfect excuse to lock in an overdue date night!
We look forward to seeing you in people2people's 2015 Oscars Predictions Competition!
