Footy Tipping - Compete for prizes or just bragging rights!
Posted by shannon: March 13, 2008With the NRL about to kick off this Friday 14 March 2008, people2people are getting into the spirit of things with the launch of our FREE Online Footy Tipping Competition. Challenge your friends and colleagues to see who really knows their stuff and can pick the winners. You don’t need to be an avid league follower to play; just one good (or lucky) round could see you taking home some great prizes. I’m not a league fan at all but I can’t wait to see the look on my friends’ faces when I tip more winners than they do!
It’s easy to join, just follow this link to register:

Wet and Wild with the Waratahs
Posted by shannon: March 11, 2008Recruiting can be thirsty work for both clients and consultants, so last week I decided to reward some of my clients with a trip to the Super 14 rugby. We warmed up at the Bavarian Bier Café, where their sausages, schnitzel and steins left us ready to cheer on the Tahs (although one disloyal rogue had tipped against them!).
I felt quite smug that I’d managed to get fantastic seats close to the action, just out from halfway. That feeling was quickly washed away as the rain came pelting down. The Waratahs were battling the Brumbies, but it turned into a battle against the elements as the dark clouds above Sydney Football Stadium unleashed their wrath. A little rain never hurt anyone though, and with a former Pom who was obviously used to the rain and a fellow Kiwi in our group we were sternly told to “harden up”. Oblivious to the torrential rain we willed on our team, booed the bad calls and pumped our fists, all without a poncho in sight! It was a great chance to get out of the office and get to know each other better – even though we nearly drowned in the process. I tell you, my clients are hardcore!

Online Timesheets
Posted by the Editor: March 11, 2008people2people is embracing the electronic age and we are moving onto a new online timesheet system. Clients and candidates will now be able to electronically accept and reject timesheet hours. At the end of the week, candidates and clients need to log in and accept or reject the hours. Instructions for approving hours have been emailed to everyone currently working but they can also be found on our website at www.people2people.com.au – under employer or candidate services, whichever is relevant.
The system enables clients to approve timesheets even though they are not in the office and access archived timesheets and invoices. Candidates can also check previous payslips online. No more calls to the people2people accounts department!
It’s straightforward to use, but if you have any problems, you can call us on 02 8270 9700 for assistance.

It is not vain to record your voice mail 100 times!
Posted by Alina: March 4, 2008Being exposed to many different styles of voice messages, the importance of thinking about your message before recording it has become quite clear to me.
Recently, when I was screening applications, I came across a really strange voice message, “Hi this is… this is .. please leave a- a- message if you like if you think it is important.. and maybe I will get back to you.. or not!” At first instinct I hung up the phone. To me it sounded sloppy and quite frankly, I was unsure whether this person was suitable for the role for which they applied. The message was off putting and didn’t encourage me to leave a message. If I thought this, then how many other recruiters or potential employers would think the same? I am sure because of this reason this person would miss out on many opportunities; and it was so avoidable.
The contributing factors of making up a great voice mail, really comes down to; content, phrasing and tone. Simply writing down what you need to say may also help. Be clear, confident and keep your message simple and this will be the difference in securing your next role. Find a quiet place and record your voice mail today, try it out!
Remember, it’s not only your friends who will be calling you!
