First Impressions Count!
Posted by nick: January 30, 2008Here is some advice for candidates looking for a job in today’s market. Voicemail can be the first chance a prospective employer has to see what they can expect of you. Here is a good tip - generally speaking if your friends find a recorded message you download off the television funny, prospective employers probably won’t. Also (while it may seem obvious) always leave YOUR name on your voicemail message; an employer needs to know who they are leaving a message for. Lastly don’t ever use swear words or other offensive language. Remember if you don’t think your mother would like it, your future boss would probably like it even less.
Here is another tip about voicemail – if you need to leave a voicemail message for a prospective employer or a recruitment consultant ALWAYS leave your full name and contact number, and if possible give some indication as to why you are calling.
First impression last, even on the phone.
