Well it has been a fiercely fought competition for footy tipping glory but we now have our winners. Congratulations go to Joe McGuire, Scott Jacobsen and Henry Liong.
In a last ditch dash for glory, these three tippers finished the season on a high but it wasn't enough to take them into the top three spots. But a weekly winner is still a winner, so they can be pleased with their efforts.

Over 800 Footy fans tip their favourite teams every week in the people2people footy tipping competition. Here is a collage of the 2011 winners including the three major prize winners. Congratulations!
Our recent survey of both employers and jobseekers reveals quite a big difference in how hiring intentions are affected by recent market volatility.
Our recent winners give away their tipping secrets. It turns out the reason for my failure is thinking too much!
Our winners in rounds 16 and 17 had very different strategies. One tipped from the heart – staying loyal to the teams he loves; and the other, you could say, tipped against the heart – tipping against the man she loves!
Patience paid off for our two winners in round 15. Peter Danaskos and Jane Beason have both been regular tippers from the start of the p2p competition and were thrilled to come away with the weekly prize.
I’ve often heard about the quarrels that can arise in the recruitment world when talking about candidate ownership and I must admit I’ve never really been exposed to it too much... until now.
On a clear, crisp Sunday a fearless group of seven people2people recruiters took on the ultimate outdoor challenge in Appin, NSW. The Tough Bloke Challenge, as it is called, is a gruelling 6km off-road run that combines the challenges of cross country running, obstacles, mud and water.
Does a higher salary always motivate people to accept a job offer? At first reflection you would think the answer would be "Yes", especially considering the current climate where politicians are emphasising cost of living pressures. But it turns out it's not all about the money - well at least not all the time!
As we hit the middle of the season we're starting to see a bit of hustle and bustle on the leaderboard, but with a few familiar names staying strong on page one. This is when your wild cards will make all the difference - don't squander them away as I have done!

Apparently footy tipping isn't that hard after all! Round 8 saw a whopping 58 people tip a perfect round and when we took the margins into account we came out with 14 winners.
Round 6 saw 4 tippers take out the weekly prize and the "p2p footy fixing" rumours are bound to continue considering I was one of the 4! This was just in time as I had been languishing down in the 600's and had nearly given up hope!
Some might say the 2011 people2people league tipping competition is rigged! This is the third week this year where a staff member or relative has been the top tipper. Whilst Kirsten was one of eight others who tipped a perfect round, her margin was spot on.
On a cold, wet and windy Canberra morning....
On Sunday 10 April, I realized a long held dream and completed my first marathon at the Canberra Running Festival. This was the end of a long journey interrupted by injury, illness and the 2010 event being cancelled, four weeks prior!
Congratulations to Umar Cheema of Avnet Partner Solutions who picked the round, collected 11 points and two movie tickets. So how does he do it?
Round 3 was a week of upsets, but Martin Benson must have known something we didn't as he still managed to tip 7 out of 8 games.
In today’s age of electronic everything, network mania, digital do-alls and image transformations there’s nothing like the good old policy of “check it one more time” before hitting send. Let me explain.
The people2people logo is green for a reason; we are conscious of our carbon footprint and committed to doing our bit to tread lightly. Once again we will be supporting Earth Hour by turning off the lights and computers on Saturday 26 March. We're also encouraging our staff to do their bit from home by turning out lights and appliances for an hour from 8.30pm.
After spending over 6 years living in the USA, with 3 male sports fanatics who hailed ESPN as the only ’worthwhile’ channel to watch, together with my husband’s family who discreetly rallied together to send me whatever merchandise they could find of their treasured NFL team the ALMIGHTY Green Bay Packers, I realised there was no point in fighting it.
Why do you get interviews but never get the job? What's an employer really looking for? Why do you always think of the right answer straight after an interview?
As people2people enters its sixth year, we have moved to our new offices at Level 6, 261 George Street Sydney. A combination of expanding staff numbers and a need to occupy a building where the air conditioning actually worked, we made our decision in July 2010 to make the move.
Welcome our newest addition to the people2people family: Baby Jasmine Luck!
In a gala evening at Dolton House in Sydney people2people were announced as the Best Medium Generalist Recruiter.
With our biggest team ever assembled, people2people once again proved themselves to be worthy competitors in the 5.6 km 2010 JP Morgan Corporate Challenge. With a selection of ’old timers’ and ‘newbies’, we had quite an international flavour to the team this year.
Over the years I have read a lot of articles about PSA agreements from the agency perspective. Articles about the benefits of getting onto a PSA, or bemoaning the low fees that large companies demand for the pleasure of being able to supply.
Yesterday I was diligently working my way through reviewing job applications when my boss calls out from around the corner, “Don’t you think it’s about time we had a new blog?” To which I irately yelled back, “Well if you hadn’t had me doing all this other stuff that’s not even my job, then maybe I’d have time to blog!”
This phrase has become a rather common belief among the many working holiday makers I meet.
July was a challenging but beneficial month for many of the p2p team who participated in Dry July this year. By seeking sponsorship to stay off the booze - or buying "Golden Tickets" to pay for the privilege - we were able to raise much-needed funds to support adults living with cancer.
This morning I received an email from ERE.net - this is an American HR website and it quite often publishes ‘posts’ that are interesting from a recruitment point of view. Today the good people in the US are up in arms about job advertisements that have appeared with lines like ‘The unemployed need not apply’. I am attaching a link Here so you can go and read it for yourself
This one is for all the 417 Working Holiday visa holders. I know you’ve got your heads down, working hard, waiting for the sunshine, but here’s a little check to make sure you’re playing by the rules.
During my time with people2people I have heard some weird and wonderful reasons for candidates leaving roles. As consultants sit around telling each other about the latest scandal each more outrageous and unexpected than the next I think to myself, “Do these candidates not know any better?”
Congratulations to our weekly footy tipping winner, Joseph Carlino from Ford Land. Joseph was a bit surprised with his win but attributes the success to his team Manly who had climbed into 4th position on the ladder.
Caroline Meyer, HR Business Partner for Macquarie Telecom, took out the p2p footy tipping comp for round 19. Her secret to success: start with the bulldogs, immediately pick their opposition and then gamble on each game from there!
Congratulations to our week 18 wine winner! Judy Mammone of Cue Clothing has come through as the strongest tipper this week. By her own admission, Judy knows very little about Rugby League and invests only a few seconds each week putting in her tips.
At people2people we like to do our bit for the community and give something back when we can. We are once again supporting the Rotary Club’s Circus Quirkus fundraising project.
My two cents worth this week is more of a mini rant than anything else. I’ve been going through job applications where I’ve included selection criteria questions and it amazes me how many candidates answer these filter questions inappropriately.
The lucky Crooked River Wine winner for round 8 of the people2people footy tipping competition is Maria Angrisano from Precision. This is Maria’s first time in a footy tipping competition and she is thoroughly enjoying herself, currently sitting in 84th position out of a possible 668!
Next month the team at people2people will be giving their drinking arms a well earned rest and supporting a worthy cause by participating in Dry July. If you haven’t heard of Dry July, it’s the charity fundraiser that challenges you to give up the booze for the month of July whilst raising money for adults living with cancer across Australia.
With the recruitment market picking up and a candidate shortage quickly becoming a reality, you would expect the benefit of using a recruiter to come from their consultative approach and knowledge of the people that they are representing. Still it never ceases to amaze me when I hear stories of recruiters and their bad habits.
Congratulations to Christine Carter from Qantas who was the top tipper for Round 7 of our Footy Tipping Competition. Christine’s key to successfully tipping is to not study the formal papers but to just go with the team she thinks will win.
Congratulations to Vince Mandile from FedEx for being the week 6 winner in our NRL footy tipping comp. As a passionate football supporter Vince was quietly confident with his tips and was pleased to receive a bottle of Crooked River Wines for his efforts.
Mandy Goodman from Combined Training & Consulting was our winner for week 5. Mandy mentioned that they were very busy offering specialist OHS training programmes to companies and that she often called on her husband to select the winning teams.
Our team has been busy with phone interviews over the last couple of weeks and we have found that although some candidates handle the questions with ease, more often than not candidates struggle through the process and become unstuck trying to find the “right” response when put on the spot.
The economic downturn has led to a change in priorities for both employers and employees. Results from PreVisor and ADP’s Global Assessment Trends Survey late 2009 show that managing the performance of the current workforce is the highest priority for HR in 2010.
Some of our clients conduct criminal background checks as a standard part of their hiring process. Recently a hiring manager came to me and asked what their grounds were for conducting a police check as she believed only government departments such as child services or the police were able to access the information.
Recently we advertised a role for a Junior Office Assistant, offering $35K + Super. From that advertisement, we received an overwhelming 172 applications for the role. After filtering through the resumes, ranging from high school graduates to overseas residents from an array of backgrounds and experience, we were only able to determine 27 potential candidates that were worth screening for the role.
Early signs in the past six months show promise for job market recovery, but as businesses start to come up for air are candidates also confident of a buoyant market ahead?
Congratulations to Dean Sheeran of Global Forex Trading who is this week's lucky wine winner. Dean, an Aquarius who enjoys bird watching and collecting pizza boxes, was at first reluctant to reveal the secret to his winning formula.
By her own admission, our Week 3 winner India Jolly from PricewaterhouseCoopers knows very little about rugby league. One week, India considers the colour of the jerseys, another week her tips are based on the general good looks of the players.
Last week saw much of the world participate in Earth Hour including people2people. We ensured that on Saturday night our lights were out and any unneccessary appliances were switched off. This year we also conducted a survey, asking our clients and candidates their views on how the environment and environmental credentials affects decisions when choosing an employer.
